Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide the participants an overview on seismic design procedures for multi-storied reinforced concrete buildings. At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:

  • Have an overall understanding of the seismic design concepts, procedures and current practices to enable them to plan and direct the construction activity appropriately.
  • Understand the methodology of seismic design to be able to execute a proper design.
  • Have a better appreciation of various construction details with respect to seismic response.

Professor at University of Canterbury, NewZealand and Visiting professor-IIT Gandhinagar, working in the areas of Structural design, structural modeling, steel and composite structures, structural monitoring, loss estimation, decision tools, communicating risk.

Assistant professor- IIT Gandhinagar, working in the areas of Rotational seismology, Seismic behaviour of complex buildings, Seismic performance assessment, Seismic isolation and protective systems.
