Short Course on
Friction Stir Welding and Processing

June 26-28, 2015

The aim of the course is to provide the participants fundamental understanding of Friction Stir Welding and Processing. At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:

  • Have an overall understanding of Friction Stir Welding concepts and current practices for metallic and non-metallic materials to enable them to plan and conduct joining or processing of materials using FSW/P appropriately.
  • Understand the concepts of microstructural evolution during FSW/P for best results during use of FSW/P with common metallic materials.
  • Develop clarity of the physical processes during FSW/P such as heat generation, material flow, temperature evolution and final mechanical properties.
The course is designed for

  • Mechanical/Production/Metallurgical/Welding engineers engaged in joining and processing of materials.
  • Senior professionals responsible for directing these activities.
  • Researchers planning and conducting research projects in the field of FSW/P.
  • Any one with interest in joining or processing of materials.
Participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a certificate at the end of the course.
