AdS/CFT correspondence : An introduction, some applications and an attempt to a basic understanding of this conjecture.

August 5, 2019 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

In this talk we will discuss the Anti de-Sitter/Conformal Field Theory (AdS/CFT) correspondence, which is a conjectured duality between a theory of gravity and another quantum field theory without gravity, in one lower dimension. We will first introduce this duality and then consider it’s usefulness as a computational tool when applied to understand aspects of strongly coupled field theories. Finally, we will discuss an attempt to understand the basic mechanism of this conjectured duality by introducing a new optimization procedure for Euclidean path integrals which compute wave functionals in CFTs.Discipline/Coordinating Entity: Physics
